Pastor Says Police Ignored Woman Raped in Church

A 24-year-old  woman met 48-year-old Albert Haymer (pictured), and she told him that she was hungry. Haymer asked the woman to join him at the First Presbyterian Church in Flint,  Mich., where there would be food.

John Musgrave, senior pastor at First Presbyterian, said his staff discovered the 24-year-old woman in the men’s bathroom, and she had been raped. First Presbyterian Church staff called police. The police never arrived, but an ambulance did.

Now, the pastor is complaining that police ignored the 911 call.

To make matters worse, about an hour later, Haymer reportedly was accompanying another woman at the church. When the rape suspect tried to attack the second victim, a church staff member sprang into action and flagged down local sheriff’s deputies.

Haymer is now in custody.

Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell confirmed that Haymer is in custody for the alleged crimes, but he does not believe that cops ignored the call. The 911 calls were made, confirmed Flint 911 Director Stephen Todd, however: “It wasn’t really clear, the extent of the situation,” he said.

The Flint police headquarters is located just four blocks away from the First Presbyterian Church.
