After his playing career, Johnson would firmly establish Magic Johnson Enterprises, an immensely-profitable multifaceted business conglomerate that targeted underserved communities that others dismissed as economic wastelands. Most prominently, MJE began with Magic Johnson Theaters in multiple cities around the county, but soon branched off into various real estate holdings, a music label, movie studio, over a hundred Starbucks stores, Magic Johnson TGIF restaurants, and multiple other partnerships.
After divesting his interests in the Los Angeles Lakers and Starbucks, MJ most recently bought into a share of the Los Angeles Dodgers, one of baseball’s marquee franchises. Magic also established the Magic Johnson Foundation which, among other philanthropic endeavors, maintains its devotion to finding a cure and treating those infected with HIV and AIDS.
