8. Racist Hunger Games Fans Lash Out at Black Characters

Many Hunger Games fans have expressed anger because Rue (Amandla Stenberg), Thesh (Dayo Okeniyi) and Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) are black. Apparently, a lot of white readers of the book series visualized the characters as Caucasian without paying attention to the written details. Rue is described as having “dark brown skin” and Thresh has “the same dark skin as Rue.” But that didn’t stop fans from tweeting racially insensitive remarks. One ignorant fan tweeted, “Sense when has Rue been a n—–.”
