Kanye West battled more than just tabloids in 2007 when his mother died unexpectedly following plastic surgery. The rapper publicly sunk into a deep depression which was worsened by his breakup with fiancée Alexis Phifer months later. Ye’s depression would fuel his 2008 album 808’s & Heartbreak and unfortunately result in embarrassing rants and antics.
