Fifty-one ladies at the top of their game in various professional, civic and community organizations, were honored at the Chicago Defender’s Sixth Annual Women of Excellence High Tea, Champagne Toast and Awards Program. The event, sponsored by State Farm, included a performance from the Joffrey Ballet and a mini-fashion show.
Christina Steed, VP of client relations with Flowers Communications Group, and wife of rolling out publisher Munson Steed, was among the honorees.
“It’s important to have this event because there are many women doing outstanding things not only in their jobs, but also in their communities,” Michael House, president of publishing, the Chicago Defender, tells rolling out. “We wanted to recognize them because many of them have not been recognized over the years, many times only CEOs are recognized.”
