Hundreds of Donna Summer’s family and friends gathered in a Nashville, Tenn., church on May 23, to pay their final respects to the Queen of Disco, who died last week at the age of 63 after a long and secret battle with lung cancer.
Summer’s family held a private funeral for the singer at Christ Presbyterian in Nashville, where she’d been a resident since 1995. Her family kept the funeral plans private until the day of and refused to allow cameras into the service.
Summer’s producer and close friend, David Foster, performed “The Prayer” with Natalie Grant. And Summer’s sisters, Linda Gaines Lotman, Mary Ellen Bernard, Dara Bernard and Jenette Yancey, sang “We’ve Come This Far By Faith.”
Other celebrity guests who attended the funeral included producer Giogrio Moroder and Tony Orlando.
After the service, Summer’s friends and family solemnly followed her casket, which was covered in white roses.
