Wiz Khalifa to play P-funk legend George Clinton in upcoming biopic

Wiz Khalifa has been added to the cast of the upcoming biopic about Casablanca Records’ founder Neil Bogart called Spinning Gold. The “Young, Wild & Free” rapper will play Parliament-Funkadelic bandleader and legend George Clinton in a role that was originally slated for Samuel L. Jackson. Currently in production in New Jersey, the film will also star Tayla Parx as Donna Summer while Ledisi is set to portray Gladys Knight and Lyndsy Fonseca will play music manager Joyce Biawitz. Singer Jason Derulo has also been cast as R&B legend Ronald Isley in the film.


The label had huge success in the ’70s with acts that included Donna Summer, KISS, Parliament, Village People, The Isley Brothers, Gladys Knight and Bill Withers. The biopic on the legendary label has been in the works for some time and Justin Timberlake was previously attached to star in the project as Bogart which will now be played by Jeremy Jordan.
