Michelle Obama is no stranger to fielding invasive media questions, and the first lady proved she’s not about to fall for any loaded questions about herself or her family when she sidestepped an inquiry about her husband, President Barack Obama’s, wild past.
During a recent stop on “The Late Show,” host Jon Stewart brought up Obama’s admission that he did drugs in his younger years and Stewart remarked, “I really related to that.”
But when Stewart asked Michelle to elaborate on Obama’s drug-filled past, the media-savvy first lady chuckled and replied, “I’m not taking any bait.”
Michelle did shed a bit of light on what caused Obama to clean up his life.
“By the time he was in college, like so many young people, he realized that, you know, he could do more with his life. And he had a mother who was always saying, ‘you’re so gifted. You’re so talented … get yourself together,’ ” said Michelle, adding that the death of Obama’s father fueled him even more.
“And I think when he lost his father that was one of those click-in moments and he really buckled down,” said Michelle.
Obama admitted that he was a heavy marijuana smoker long before he was elected.
“Look, when I was a kid, I inhaled frequently: That was the point,” he said, referring to former President Bill Clinton’s famous 1992 statement about how he smoked marijuana, but didn’t inhale.
Well, Stewart certainly isn’t the only one who can relate to Obama’s weedhead past. Check out some more celebrity weedheads below. –nicholas robinson
