In May 2011, ABC ordered Rhimes’ pilot script “Scandal” to series. Kerry Washington is the magnetic lightning rod of the show as Olivia Pope, a political crisis management expert who is partially based on former Bush administration press aide Judy Smith. The series debut aired on April 5, 2012 and the ratings immediately ripped through the roof and the raves have come in from every corner of the country. A second season was ordered, a no-brainer as much as there is one in Hollywood.
