Rapper Fat Joe is another non-black in hip-hop that frequently uses the “N”-word with little or no criticism. The Terror Squad leader who is of Hispanic descent, is unabashed in his use of the word and previously told WGI, “The people who criticize the “N”-word in rap are people who don’t even like hip-hop. All my life growing up it’s just been a word, a term of endearment. Like ‘you know what it is my n—-.” Somehow it became a way to embrace each other. I don’t know. I don’t what to tell you. I use it all the time. I feel like I’m that n—–.”
