Beyoncé has the world talking about her surprising performance Sunday night at Super Bowl 50. But before the proud mother went onstage, she set aside time on the football field with her daughter, Blue Ivy. Not only was the 4-year-old just featured in her mom’s new music video the day before the big show, but she was about to experience her very first Super Bowl.

In black and white photographs posted to the singer’s Instagram account, Beyoncé, stands inside the Levi’s Stadium where a full house of sports fans and millions of people at home would soon be watching her perform alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars. She was already dressed in the leotard she would wear for the halftime show. In one picture, she stood next to Blue, who was wearing a dark coat and AKID’s Anthony trainers, and appeared to be singing to her in another. Her husband, Jay Z, stood by wearing a hoodie and sunglasses, taking pictures of the moment with his phone.

During showtime, the iconic entertainer performed her newest song, “Formation,” which has gotten a lot of praise, but also a lot of flack. When Beyoncé came out in a leather get-up that looked similar to what the Black Panthers wore in the pro-Black militant group’s heyday, and her dancers came out with berets and afros which also resembled the legendary group, many people deemed it as a racist performance that promoted an anti-police attitude.

The “Formation” video, which also received criticism for hinting at police brutality, featured Blue looking as adorable as ever in a white dress and a neat and curly fro. She was shown in an old-fashioned room running around with other little girls.

Gwyneth Paltrow, the ex-wife of Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, also posted a photo of her daughter, Apple, and Blue Ivy walking hand-in-hand at the stadium. She captioned it “#superbowl50 jacket game,” probably as a reference to the girls’ colorful jackets.

Super Bowl 50 was likely a night little Blue won’t soon forget.
