A Congressman’s Father’s Day Plea for Black Men and Families
Congressman Danny K. Davis (Democrat) of Chicago hosted a day-long event designed to empower fathers. Other participants included the Thapelo Institute and the Chicago Housing Authority. The event took place at Malcolm X College and included a health workshop and free lunch for attendees.
The event was part of a month-long initiative designed to educate families and encourage greater interaction between fathers and their children.
“There are so many unsuccessful people, people whose lives have been shattered, dreams have been broken because they did not have access to a father in their lives,” Cong. Davis tells rolling out. “Can one imagine how empty and vacant one may feel if they cannot connect with their father?”
