O’Neal Says She Had No Part In Basketball Wives Firings

With three women removed from the cast of her hit TV show ‘Basketball Wives’, producer Shaunie O’Neal is officially doing damage control. It was announced last week that three ladies will not return next season; Kesha Nichols, Jennifer Williams and Royce Reed. Their firings which came as a surprise to many, were believed to be a part of O’Neal and Shed Media’s pledge to eliminate physical altercations on the program. And although those three ladies were by far the least violent, Nichols, Williams and Reed were said to be forced to find employment elsewhere.

Now O’Neal is reportedly denying any wrongdoing in the trio’s removal, and in fact says she had no idea that they had been released from the program. TMZ reports that O’Neal, who is an executive producer, has been adamant that she found out about the firings when they were made public. Furthermore, O’Neal says she has been constantly in the dark about a number of the show’s recent shakeups.

Sources close to Shaunie say she was blindsided by the news and previously took issue with Shed Media for this seasons’ onslaught of violence. O’Neal is reportedly so frustrated that she’s considering walking away from the series.

Shed Media is the production company behind “Basketball Wives.” They are also responsible for “Basketball Wives L.A.” and America’s “Super Nanny.”

Do you really believe Shaunie had “no idea” that Jennifer, Kesha and her frenemy Royce were getting fired? I doubt it. -danielle canada
