Full given name: D’Anthony Sayveon Jafar Huff-McClain or Takah
Current project: Dysfunctional, a Rogers Film Work
Where you were born/where you were raised? I was born in Atlanta, Ga. I am being raised and home schooled by my favorite Mommy, Norma Huff-McClain, my two big brothers Anthony “China” and Lestavis Huff-McClain and my father, Anthony McClain.
Why did you take this role?
Thanks to Auntie Justanya Justice. JJ sent my headshot and résumé so I could audition for The Promise audition. [He’s featured in Studio 11 Films’ The Promise, an 11Eleven11 Project]
Did you have any particular mentors or inspirations as a young actor?
Why, yes. Yes, I do. My two big brothers, my Granny Olivia, my twin, cousin Chardonnay Tophia, my G-Auntie Alice, my G-Momma, Tanzy, Vernita Starr and my Blazers’ Track coach, coach executive Uncle Ronald T. Clark, and his son, Ryan Clark, who are always there for me.
The one movie you attended that you will never forget:
I have been looking at Chicken Little since I was just a little kid. I kind of look like him.
Your personal acting idols:
My brothers are always trying to act. They are funny.
Performer you would drop everything to go see:
I guess I need to see the Diggy boy. People are always saying I look like a young Diggy Simmons and I tell them No, my name is not Diggy, it’s D’Anthony Mc or Takah. Then, I shake my head.
Favorite cities:
I want to go where ever Disneyland or Disneyworld is. Oh yeah, I want to go to Asia and South America — well all of the continents. I love history.
First CD, tape or LP you owned:
Do educational CDs count? We never get out of school.
Moment you knew you wanted to perform for a living:
When my track coach let me close every practice with a speech, but I really knew when I was just a 5-year-old kid and sang, My Cherie Amour to our team mom, who is his wife, at the track banquet and in front of the whole team. The camera man on The Promise taught me how to use the camera and he let me interview this man. Oops, I forgot his name. That is not good. I make people laugh and smile. And, I get lots of hugs from tall older girls and pretty ladies. Yeah, I like that. So now I love to talk in front of anybody. I think I want to be a mayor or senator.
Worst flubbed line, missed cue or onstage mishap:
I fell when I was flying like Superman on The Promise and un-skin my knee. Mommy said I was flying way too close to the ground.
Most challenging role you have played:
Well, I just do the best I can. And try very hard to listen and follow directions.
Worst job you ever had:
Last year when I was picked as the leadership captain on my football team, that part was great but let’s just put it like this, everybody called me “Mr. Clean, Mr. Clean.” My uniform was the same white, when we got them as it was on the last game of the season. Hey, I love microphones.
Career you would want if not a performer:
It would be nice to be retired.
Three things you can’t live without:
My family, I love them so very, very much. My iPad and the best, my pillow, ‘cause it’s sooo cute and fluffy. I think it really calms me down.
