Ann Curry Announces ‘Today Show’ Departure
Ann Curry will no longer co-anchor the “Today Show” with Matt Lauer, now that the NBC News correspondent has announced her departure. A tearful Curry appeared on the program this morning and explained that this would mark her last time alongside Lauer, Al Roker and Natalie Morales on the “Today Show’ couch. “For all of you who saw me as a ground breaker, I’m sorry I couldn’t carry the ball over the finish line,” said Curry.

Ratings for the morning program have plummeted since Curry took over for Meredith Vieira last year, so much so that for the first time in 16 years ‘Good Morning America’ beat out the news program in ratings. Instead of dishing out the morning news, Curry will run a roving team of reporters for NBC.
After it was rumored last week that Curry would be leaving, a number of names came up as possible replacements. Viera herself was even said to be in the running, but declined the news network’s offer.
