Things between former flames Chris Brown and Rihanna have been (understandably) up and down ever since Brown was convicted of assaulting Rihanna in 2009. And though fans have been divided about whether the two stars should reunite, Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, has now weighed in on the subject.
In a recent interview with Grazia magazine, Fenty explained that he thinks Brown has matured since breaking off their abusive relationship and that he and Rihanna would make a “perfect couple.”
“Chris has matured a lot. I think everybody has to put the past behind them. And they seem to have done that,” said Fenty. “Being a couple is all up to her … I just wish her the best. I hope things will work out.”
For the better part of a year, things did seem to be working out for Rihanna and Brown when they began following each other on Twitter and even collaborated on two remixes. But things seemed to fall apart a few months ago when Rihanna unfollowed Brown amid reports that he dissed her in one of his songs.
Though, the two seemed to have reconciled in June after reportedly hanging out secretly. And after the recent death of Rihanna’s grandmother, Brown sent out a comforting message to his former love.
According to Fenty, it’s that kind of maturity that shows htat Brown has learned from his past and is ready to love Rihanna again.
“Everyone is entitled to make a mistake,” Fenty said. “Her fans are hoping it will happen. They see them as a perfect couple.”
