He was further nominated for his role in Ali, Breakin’ All the Rules and Collateral, which grossed $217.7 million worldwide and also earned Foxx his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. It was also noted for the fact that Foxx, relatively new to the dramatic genre, had completely stolen the movie Collateral from the much more established and famous Tom Cruise. 
For his performance in Ray, Foxx won nineteen awards, including the Academy Award for best actor. He surprised many when he chose to bring his daughter to the Oscars as his date. His most recent films include Stealth, Jarhead, Miami Vice, the award-winning film adaptation of the stage show Dreamgirls, and the biopic The Soloist.
