Terrell Owens Avoids Jail Time, Makes Child Support Payments

Terrell Owens Finally Pays Child Support Bill

After being publicly embarrassed on national television by three women he fathered children with, Terrell Owens has finally paid up; to one of his baby’s mothers at least. Owens, 38, appeared in an Atlanta court room Thursday, July 19 to settle with Melanie Smith, with whom he has a 7-year-old daughter. His lawyer and a lawyer for Smith came to an agreement before the hearing and the court ordered Owens to make back payments to Smith and pay for her legal fees as well. “We’re pleased. It’s too bad it took this long,” Smith’s lawyer Randy Kessler said  in a statement. “If he’s not going to be there physically, he needs to be there financially.”

Owens currently pays nearly $50,000 in child support for four children but has complained in the past that his payments should be reduced due to his lack of income. He was previously featured on an episode of Dr. Phil with Smith, as well as two other women he fathered children with.

In June Owens was further humiliated when he was cut from an indoor football team and given a $50 severance check. -danielle canada
