30th Annual Atlanta Regional MED Week to Honor Businesswomen and Local Businesses

The Atlanta Region Minority Enterprise Development Public Private Sector Council will honor three women in business at the 30th Annual Atlanta Regional Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week. The awards luncheon will be held on Aug. 2, 2012, at AT&T Midtown II Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. The daylong event will be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and includes a plenary breakfast, workshops and business opportunities.

Honorees include Patricia Harris, executive director and CEO, The Edge Connection at Kennesaw State will receive the Advocate of the Year Award; Naheed Syed, president and CEO of Global Resources Inc. will be recognized as the Minority Global Technology Firm of the Year; and Sabrina Jenkins, director of special events, Atlanta Braves was selected for the Distinguished Supplier Diversity Professional Award.


Other honorees are: Research Technologies Inc., Minority Manufacturer Firm of the Year, Greenville, S.C.; and Mitchell Industrial Contractors, Minority Construction Firm of the Year, Madison, Ala.

MED Week is the Southeast region’s premier event for minority entrepreneurs and the public and private sectors. With the theme “Job Creation in America: Build It Here. Sell it Everywhere,” seminar topics will include a personal sharing of taking a start-up business to a global company with more than $100 million in revenue. Some of the most sought after speakers in business will serve as panelist and engage attendees on the importance of global branding and marketing in the success of a business and one of the hot topics of the times —job creation.

• Opening Plenary Breakfast August, 2 – James Johnson, PhD., Phenomenal Speaker
• Awards Luncheon, August, 2 – Honoring outstanding MBEs and Corporate partners

The one-day conference offers a place for minority-owned firms to access information, tools and resources to grow their businesses both domestically and internationally. Each year, minority owned firms connect with public and private sector buyers to explore ways for business expansion and develop lasting partnerships with firms across multiple industry sectors.
