When Drake first hit the music scene a few years ago, he was at the top of the “new class” of emcees and destined to fulfill his role as “most likely to succeed.” But he didn’t complete his high school career, having dropped out to pursue stardom. But now Drake has revealed that things have come full circle and he’s now set to receive his high school diploma in the near future.
In a new interview with Toronto’s NOW magazine, Drake discussed his summer adventures and explained that he’s been busy hitting the books — or, considering this digital era, his iPad — as he prepares to finally finish high school.
“I’m actually spending my summer graduating high school,” Drizzy admitted. “That’s my main focus after OVO Fest. I only have one credit left, and I’m really excited about that.”
It’s a stark contrast from Drake’s outlook on education on his current single, “Crew Love,” in which he raps, “I guess we’ll never know what Harvard gets us / But seeing my family have it all / Took the place of that desire for diplomas on the wall.”
Well, we commend Drake on going back to school to earn his diploma and hopefully he’ll inspire his fans across the globe to seriously invest in their own education as well. And like Drake, below are some other stars who went back to school as well. –nicholas robinson
