His first term in the U.S. House of Representatives was in 1999. He is currently serving his seventh term in Congress.
On his official web page, Paul Ryan’s biography describes him as working to “bring fiscal discipline and accountability to the federal government. He is a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over tax policy, Social Security, health care and trade laws.”
