Evelyn Lozada Mourns the Loss of Her Brother-In-Law, Says Chad Johnson 'Needs Help'

Evelyn Lozada Discusses Chad Johnson for 1st Time

Evelyn Lozada’s headline making week just took an unexpected turn now that the “Basketball Wives” star is mourning the loss of a family member. Lozada, 36, is said to be coping with the death of her brother-in-law, Anthony Ochoa, after the 43-year-old succumbed to cancer.

“Anthony was an amazing husband, father, and brother-in-law,” the reality star told TMZ. “He will be dearly missed.”

Anthony and Lozada’s sister, Sylvia, were married for more than 10 years. He was previously shown on episodes of Lozada’s reality show and walked Lozada down the aisle at her wedding. He is survived by his wife and two children.

In addition to reeling from her loss, Lozada is making her first comments on this weekend’s unfortunate incident between herself and her husband, Chad Johnson. In just four days, Johnson has seen his world come crashing down around him after his wife accused him of purposely head butting her Saturday night. Since then, he’s been released from the Miami Dolphins and his VH1 reality show has been cancelled. If all that wasn’t enough, however, his battered wife is now airing out her grievances with him to the public.

“I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me,” said Lozada, noting that Johnson tried to lie to police about the situation. “It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles,” she added. Domestic violence is not OK and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”

Lozada is not alone in her quest to speak out against abuse toward women. Lozada is a good friend of singer Rihanna, who spoke out against domestic violence after her 2009 incident with Chris Brown. Similarly, her “Basketball Wives” co-star, Tami Roman, revealed this season that she was sexually abused as a child.

Hopefully, Lozada and her husband can settle their differences quickly and out of the public eye. Unfortunately considering their mutual love for attention, the probability of that is highly unlikely. –danielle canada
