Although estrogen is one of our favorite hormones, responsible for our highly celebrated curves and feminine figures, overproduction can be the start of a serious health condition.
At the onset of menopause, the level of progesterone declines which enhances the production of estrogen. If the production level of estrogen is not well balanced, it may block the thyroid hormones and cause under-active thyroid conditions.
Fatigue is a common symptom for under-active thyroids; a stressful lifestyle can also create a high activity level which causes the opposite; overactive thyroids hormones. If left untreated, hyperthyroidism can lead to “atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, osteoporosis, and neuropsychiatric disorders,” according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine.
