R&B songstress Monica, the first lady of the Wood-Star Music Festival, was a picture of elegance as she flanked her husband Shannon Brown on the red carpet at a dinner fundraiser for the event.
Monica’s affable personality set the tone for the Wood-Star Music Festival fundraiser, as the celebrities who attended allowed the Shannon Brown Foundation to be the shining star of the evening.
The Wood-Star Music Festival, a three-day celebration of music and family fun, benefits the Shannon Brown Foundation. The goal of the foundation is violence prevention and empowering at-risk families.
Brown was acknowledged for his hard work. At the event on Aug. 17, 2012, Felicia Davis, who is the deputy chief of staff for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, announced that Shannon Brown will receive his own day of celebration in the city of Chicago.
