Because of damage to her vocal cords, Nicki Minaj was not able to take part in this weekend’s V Festival in England, according to The Grio.
Though her doctor told Minaj to rest her voice this week, the singer still performed a free concert for fans in New York City on Wednesday, Aug. 15. At the show, Drake, Lil Wayne and Foxy Brown joined Minaj onstage.
After her vocal cords became worse, Minaj had to cancel her appearance at the British music festival on Saturday and Sunday.
The V Festival is an annual weekend music festival that has been held in two parks in England since 1996. The V in the name stands for the Virgin Group and the festival is sponsored by Virgin Media. This year’s event took place on Aug. 18-19 and included acts like The Stone Roses, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Tom Jones, Childish Gambino, Beverly Knight, Rita Ora, Wiley and LMFAO.
