A prolific writer, Jakes has authored dozens of books that delve into relationships and spiritual uplift, many of them taking up residence on the New York Times bestseller’s list. One of them, Woman, Thou Art Loosed (1993), about domestic abuse and other difficulties, became a commercially relased film of the same name in 2004 and he made an appearance in the film.
His recording label, Dexterity Sounds, has also produced Grammy-nominated albums in collaboration with EMI Gospel Music.
