Did Chris Brown's Mother Blast Rihanna?
Many believe Chris Brown's mother criticized Rihanna, pictured here with Oprah in Barbados, after her teary-eyed interview.

Many speculate that Chris Brown’s mother’s series of recent tweets were a backhand of sorts in response to Rihanna’s heart-wrenching interview on Oprah’s “Next Chapter.”

Joyce Hawkins, Breezy’s mother, had these scathing but general Twitters posts the day after RiRi’s interview on OWN network and put them in all caps for emphasis:

“TELL THE TRUTH AND SET YOURSELF FREE.

NOT UNTIL YOU TELL THE TRUTH WILL YOU EVER BE FREE!!!!!! PEACE SOMETIMES COMES WITH A PRICE.

DID YOU SAY SOMETHING? DID IT HELP ANYONE?

BE POSITIVE IT CAN AND WILL HELP SOMEONE.

ANGELS YOU HAVE BEEN THERE NO MATTER WHAT. YOU ARE THE TRUE MEANING OF ”LOVE IN SPITE OF.”

Predictably and immediately, the series of posts ignited a firestorm with many believing that this was a less-than-subtle swipe at Rihanna.

The Bajan beauty was in the news for her much-publicized interview with Oprah in Barbados that aired on Sunday night. Rihanna may have surprised many listeners because of her extreme candidness and willingness to admit that she retains deep feelings for him, saying “I think he was the love of my life,” she said, saying that he was her best friend while they dated. “It’s awkward because I still love him. My stomach drops and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me.”

When Hawkins words spilled into cyberspace and caused controversy, she soon took to Twitter again to try to clear the air.

“MY STATEMENTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GENERAL AND WILL REMAIN THAT WAY.”

That is what some would call a non-denial denial. It may have been general but it was awfully coincidental, coming on the heels of an interview that reached tens of millions of homes.
