Lupe Fiasco and Chief Keef represent the contrasting nature of black youth in the inner city. On one hand, Lupe Fiasco is a conscious emcee who frowns upon the negative aspects in the ghetto and seeks change. But Chief Keef tells the story of a criminal minded teen who subscribes to the nihilism that tends to be destructive. They are both from the same city, but the two view and react to black despair differently.
Their views clashed a few weeks ago when Lupe Fiasco revealed that he is afraid of the culture that Chief Keef represents. Chief Keef responded through Twitter by saying he would slap Lupe the next time he saw him. Lupe responded to Chief Keef in an effort to reach out to the youngster and hinted that he was heartbroken and would retire from rap. Chief Keef later told his followers that his account was hacked.
For the first time since the incident occurred two weeks ago on Twitter, Lupe has broken his silence.
During a show in L.A., Lupe revealed that he isn’t in a position to judge and apologized for his comment.
“I’m far from where I wanna be, I’m far from being a stand-up human being, I’m far from being a knowledgeable and wise young man as well,” Lupe said. “I’m somewhere in the middle. I ain’t no saint, but with that said, I love my brother. I want to see him succeed and do his thing, and that goes for everybody anywhere everywhere in the world. Shout out to the big homie Chief Keef.”
