When Nas and Lauryn Hill took the stage this summer, they were merely giving you a taste of what is to come in the next couple of months. On Oct. 6, Nas will begin his Life is Good Tour which will join with Lauryn Hill’s Black Rage Tour until the end of 2012. Lauryn Hill’s Black Rage title stems from a new song that Hill will be releasing later this fall in which she talk about the derivative effects of racial inequity and abuse. The concert tour will consist of some new material as well as many of our old favorites.
Though Lauryn Hill appears to have jumped ship to the corporate side of the music industry, she has not lost touch with the music and performance aspect of it. “I use the performance platform as an opportunity to express the energy of that moment, and the intention behind it,” Hill said in a statement. “I’ve been a long standing rebel against the stale, over commoditization. As artists we have opportunity to help the public evolve, raise consciousness and awareness, teach, heal, enlighten and inspire in ways the democratic process may not be able to touch. So we keep it moving.”
“This is history,” added Nas. “Better late than never. Life is good!”
