Idris Elba Tapped to Play Bobby Brown?
In yet another bizarre reported casting, a British hunk is said to be under consideration for the role of a troubled pelvic thrusting singing star. Idris Elba, 40, is rumored to be the top pick for a role in the Whitney Houston biopic as Houston’s partner-in-crime Bobby Brown. The reported casting reeks of the same randomness that followed a director’s seemingly bizarre choice for Zoe Saldana to portray Nina Simone, a choice that left many people up in arms. According to various reports, producers are eyeing Elba for his extensive acting career that includes roles in “Luther,” “The Wire” and Takers. Another thespian up for the role? Anthony Mackie of The Hurt Locker fame, who already has that signature Bobby Brown gap.
