Houston's First Responders Honored at Screening for NBC's 'Chicago Fire'

On Thursday, Oct. 4, NBC hosted a private screening of their new high-octane drama, Chicago Fire. Select Houston fans and tastemakers were invited to the colossal Edwards Greenway Palace 24 for an exclusive first look at the latest project from Emmy Award-winning executive producer, Dick Wolf of “Law & Order” fame.

“Chicago Fire” is an edge-of-your-seat look into the professional and personal lives of the firefighters, rescue squad, and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51. The weekly series depicts much more than the dangers, conflicts and clutch moments faced on the job as emergency responders. It also examines the personal and relational tolls exacted by the pressure to perform at such a high level, and the triumphs that can result when you dare to take big risks.

In keeping with the theme of “Chicago Fire” and in honor of the sacrifices made by real life emergency responders, NBC and rollingout.com invited members of the Houston Fire Department to be our special guests at the screening and honored a pair of Houston’s own hometown heroes. Captain Dexter Johnson, an 18-year veteran firefighter and EMT, and Thomas Muñoz, assistant chief of Homeland Security and Planning, were recognized for their dedication and contributions to the Houston community and its citizens.

Following the screening, when rolling out asked Captain Johnson for his thoughts on the show, his answer was direct and simple: “I’ll definitely be watching.”

“Chicago Fire” premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 10 EST/9 CST on NBC. For more information, visit www.nbc.com/chicago-fire.
