The icon who continues to elicit screeches and full-throated screams from women today was born more than a half-century ago as Prince Rogers Nelson on June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis to a pianist father and jazz singing mother. No doubt the band that his father played for, Prince Rogers Trio, inspired his birth name.
