During an “Evening with Viola Davis,” the crown jewel of the Black Perspectives film event held during the Chicago International Film Festival, Viola Davis told Regina Taylor and the audience the true reason behind her removing the wig.
“There comes a time in your life where you cannot force people to see you,” Davis said. “You literally have to see yourself and be comfortable with yourself, and to love yourself, and that’s when people see you and you have to be comfortable with people seeing you. It’s still a journey.”
