Hurricane Sandy is threatening to swallow New York and flooding from the approaching storm has caused flooding already.
New York, the normally bustling media, fashion and finance capital of the world, looks like a ghost town as residents flee or hunker down to face the oncoming Hurricane Sandy.
The Stock Exchange is closed as well as public transportation; residents of low-lying areas were told to evacuate. Schools will remain closed until Tuesday.
The FrankenStorm, as it has been dubbed due to its freakish mix of snow, flooding and winds, is hundreds of miles away from landfall at this time.
“There will be people who die and are killed in this storm,” predicted Gov. Martin O’Malley of Maryland.
ABC News says 66 million will be affected by this storm.
