Stars: Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, RZA
Studio: Universal Studios
The wildly artistic RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan can now add three more titles to his résumé: writer, actor and director. In The Man With the Iron Fists, his first feature film, RZA makes a rip-roaring debut. RZA is a student of film and martial arts, that much is clear, so the action sequences are stupendous. RZA penned the story and tapped the genius of Quentin Tarantino to help him flesh out the screenplay, and Tarantino’s influence is apparent, but trust us, this is definitely RZA’s baby. Oh yeah, and the sound track is, of course, banging.
It is a testament to RZA that his project attracted Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe and the charming Lucy Liu. Expect this film to rake in piles of cash. This is a cult film in the making. –p.d. lee
