Gabrielle Union in No Rush for Marriage and Kids With Dwyane Wade

They say 40 is the new 20, but really 40 is just, well, 40. And, few people are proving that 40 is just as fabulous as 20 better than actress Gabrielle Union, who just hit the big 4-0 this past weekend. And, although most women  — and men — her age would be settling down into family life and “mom jeans” by now, Union shared a different opinion about what she wants her life to be now that she’s “over the hill.”

While partying it up at her rooftop birthday bash, Union spoke with JustTheFab.com about her turning 40 and whether she’s ready to settle down and have kids with her boyfriend, NBA superstar Dwayne Wade.

“No, I have dance-on-table fever,” said Union. “You [can’t] really do those two together or I think they arrest you.”

“Eventually, I’ll probably get baby-fever somewhere after, you know, marriage fever, and I’m still enjoying boyfriend-girlfriend fever,” Union added.

However, for anyone hoping to see Union and Wade jump the broom any time soon, Union says that you shouldn’t hold your breath.

“I don’t know. We like each other a lot, and we both failed miserably the last time either one of us got married,” said Union candidly, referring to her previous marriage to former NFL player Chris Howard.

As far as Union and Wade are concerned, society’s timeline for marriage and kids is of no concern for them. They’re just content to enjoy their relationship and stay true to their own timeline.

“I think we’re doing it slow, you know what I mean?” said Union. “I think when you rush in, then people have crap to say. If you go too slow, people still have stuff to say. So, I think we have to just take it at the pace that’s great for us.”

Wise words indeed, Union. And, she’s not the only aging star who is bucking societal norms and holding off on settling down. Check out some other unmarried celebs below. – nicholas robinson
