Lil’ Wayne sued Quincy Jones III over a documentary about him, and Jones responded with a counter-suit. The verdict is in and you’d be surprised at what it is!
First things first, Lil’ Wayne participated in a documentary about him title, The Carter, and Jones’ cameras are following him around. Several of Lil’ Wayne’s songs are used in the film, and that’s where the trouble began. Lil’ Wayne argued that Jones did not ask his permission to use the music, so Wayne sued.
Jones filed a countersuit, citing that Lil Wayne blocked the promotion of the film and hindered the film’s ability to be profitable.
The jury’s verdict: Lil Wayne must pay Quincy Jones III $2,195,000.
Lil Wayne is said to hate the film, that it portrays him in a negative light; the critics have flocked to the film, and it was a sweetheart at Sundance in 2009.
