DeKalb Medical Center's Breast Care Center moves into state-of-the-art facility

The Comprehensive Breast Care Center at Hillandale – DeKalb Medical has witnessed a 20 percent increase in patient visits and thus expanded into a larger, state-of-the-art facility to accommodate them. With funding provided by the DeKalb Medical Foundation, the newly renovated Breast Center offers amenities for the comfort and convenience of women in southwest DeKalb, Rockdale, and Newton counties as outlying communities.

Patients will experience the spa treatment during their appointment for mammogram testing, have access to onsite nurse navigators five days a week as well as quicker scheduling for mammograms and biopsies. The new facility is 4,170 square feet, in comparison to a previous 1,600. The waiting area is spacious, lockers are available in the private dressing rooms and the procedure rooms are less clinical and more inviting.

DeKalb Medical is hailed as a leader in Atlanta in oncology research and treatment. The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons granted a three-year approval with commendation to DeKalb Medical as a community comprehensive cancer center in 2010 and bestowed the coveted Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer in 2007 for exceeding standards. –yvette caslin
