On the Nov. 12 episode of “Basketball Wives LA,” Laura Govan set in motion the final stages of her evil scheme against co-star Jackie Christie when she secretly met with Christie’s daughter, Chantel, to find out all of the family’s dark secrets. And, although Chantel happily obliged Govan during Sunday night’s episode, she’s now opening up to the world about her family issues and explaining how she feels about Govan.
During Monday’s episode, Chantel revealed to Govan that her mother was obsessed with becoming famous and that she created a divisive family dynamic at home. Chantel claimed that Christie pitted her against her sister, Takari, who has darker skin than her and regularly spoke down to Takari about her weight and complexion and even left her homeless for three months. Chantel also claimed that Christie stopped their father, Doug Christie, from forming strong bonds with his daughters.
According to Sister 2 Sister, Chantel shed some light on her conversation with Govan on Twitter after the episode aired, saying that if she could go back, she wouldn’t have talked to Govan about her issues.
“I was in a bad place in MY life. Was it right? No.” Chantel tweeted. “Was it “all lies”? No. Was it 4 “publicity”? No. Did I kno where Laura was coming from? NO. Do I regret it? I regret airing my personal life out 2 sm1 who, I now feel, had malicious intent.”
“I regret addressing it publicly, at all. You all can believe WHATEVER you would like to,” she added.
Chantel’s personal revelations have resulted in quite the backlash against her and even personal threats, but she says that she’s making no apologies for her actions.
“I know MY truth,” Chantel said. “I will not call it a mistake because in THAT moment, it was exactly what I wanted to do. Looking back, it NEVER should’ve happened.”
However, Chantel did send a personal message to her mother, encouraging her and the rest of the family to work to heal their issues.
“@JackieChristie, I love you. & I’m not sure how, but as a FAMILY, I’m sure we’ll get through this,” Chantel tweeted. “If you’re ready, I’m willing. And to those that have said evil, malicious things to me… I’m praying for you. Not even mad at cha. You can only speak on what you see.”
