Black celebs accused of lightening their skin
After being lauded for being a budding black actress, it’s surprising to see that Keke Palmer has become the latest celeb to face skin bleaching allegations. Early Monday, the Nickelodeon star took to Instagram to show off an ear full of piercings and a pair of snazzy new glasses to her 357,000 followers. While most comments made mention of her attire and hair, a few fans noted that her skin looked “lighter than usual.” “She’s so much lighter now,” wrote a fan under the photo. “Did you get bleached Keke cuz [sic] you used to be chocolate, now you all bright,” added another.”
Obviously none too pleased by the skin lightening allegations, the 19-year-old put together a collage of her baby pictures and her current state to prove that her skintone has not changed. “Enough with these crazy complex accusations,” wrote Palmer under the photo. “We need to stop separating ourselves by how dark or light we are. I have been the same complexion all my lie, and if you think otherwise don’t follow me. #nofilter”
