Malibu Red margarita: Flirt with fire, surrender to Ne-Yo's smooth sounds

During a party this past summer, this writer feasted on delectable hors d’oeuvres paired with a whimsical cocktail, a “fruity fantasy” made with Malibu Red. The fête was a Rio Carnival-ish affair, complete with fire handlers who greeted guests, models sporting red hot pants and plumage miniskirts, topping the look off with classic fedoras. The Flamenco dancers and feather-shaking Vegas-style showgirls were performing racy routines to smash pop singles.

R&B mastermind Shaffer “Ne-Yo” Smith was tapped to partner with Pernod Ricard to launch the new spirit with a kick called Malibu Red, which is a vibrant combination of Caribbean Rum, coconut liqueur and Mexican Tequila.

As the brand’s chief creative officer, the business savvy entertainer helped design the bottle and released a special promotional single titled “Burnin’ Up.” The official anthem for Malibu Red exemplifi es the spirit of the brand, which is a harmonious balance of sweet, smooth and fi ery notes.

This past November, Ne-Yo released his new album titled, R.E.D., an acronym for Realizing Every Dream, which leverages value for both brands: Ne-Yo and Malibu Red.
