  • Ironically, Quincy Jones teamed up with Michael Jackson to create Thriller in order to kill disco. But the most significant contributor to Thriller’s success other than Jackson and Jones was Rod Temperton, a disco junkie and superstar writer for the disco group Heatwave. He wrote the hits “Rock With You,” “Off the Wall,” “Baby Be Mine,” “Thriller” and “The Lady in My Life” for Off the Wall and Thriller albums.
