MJ wrote the album’s biggest hits: “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin” (peaked at #5), “The Girl is Mine” (peaked at #2 for three weeks), “Beat It” (#1 for three weeks) and “Billie Jean” (#1 for six weeks). The latter two songs won Grammys for Best Rock Song and Best Rhythm and Blues Song, respectively. (Side note: Michael also wrote another song that won a Grammy and remains one of the most popular nightclub hits of all time, “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough.”)
