Following her concert performance, Rivera addressed her breakup from husband Major League Baseball pitcher Esteban Loaiza.
They couple had been married for two years, but filed for divorce after reports of Loaiza cheating sprang up on the gossip sites. The statement from their reps about the divorce at the time read that they split due to “irreconcilable differences on behalf of both parties, derived from private circumstances that occurred during the lapse of their two-year marriage.”
Rivera addressed the decision to file for divorce:
“I can’t get caught up in the negative because that destroys you. Perhaps trying to move away from my problems and focus on the positive is the best I can do. I am a woman like any other and ugly things happen to me like any other woman,” she said. “The number of times I have fallen down is the number of times I have gotten up.”
