Party planner Jade Ladson shares tips for the perfect holiday soirée

Establish a guest list and send invitations

Make your list and check it twice.  This will ensure that you haven’t left off any important people.  Also, be certain to send the invites in a timely manner to make sure your guests have adequate time to adjust their plans.

Make sure your home is clean and ready for guests

Candles – Candles always set the mood and provide a nice atmospheric aroma

Seating – Make sure there is adequate seating for guests. You can use a mix of chairs, stools, chaise lounges, and even pillows.

Tables – Guests need a place to sit there plates and drinks

Parking – Notify your neighbors about your party to ensure there will be no issues with guest parking.  Look into valet or alternate options if necessary

Make sure your décor is appropriate and sets the mood for the theme

Festive Décor – décor can be as simple as a wreath, mistletoe, and candles.  Other options are use a bowl or vase and fill with holiday ornaments that you no longer need.  Also, have a few props around so guests can use for pictures.

Make sure your music is theme appropriate and played at a proper volume

Classical hits as well as current music are sure to keep the crowd excited. However, no one wants to have to yell to talk to each other.

Connect with each of your guests

Don’t leave anyone out in the cold. Make sure you speak to everyone and make introductions if needed.  Remember you are the host and guests will look to you to ensure they are comfortable

Always have a designated driver

Decide before the party who will be the designated driver and make sure that they have plenty Mock-Tails and coffee during the event.  This person should be responsible and aware that they need to stay until the last guest has safely left the party

Enjoy the party – It’s a party so eat, drink, and be merry.

Here’s a bonus tip that we will leave you with:  Present your guests with a special toast to thank them for attending.  This sign of gratitude will be appreciated by your guests more than you know.  To really win them over, send them on their way with a simple favor.  Cute bags filled with goodies, a hand crafted gift, or thank you cards all say, “I appreciate you!”
