An NYPD sergeant who rose to fame last year when she was photographed with President Obama at the World Trade Center, killed herself after a fight with her girlfriend in their Long Island, N.Y., home Tuesday, sources said.
Sergeant Stephanie Moses, 40, a 17-year veteran of the department’s ceremonial unit, became famous after she took a photo with President Obama during a memorial service at the World Trade Center last year.
Moses killed herself last night after a fight with her girlfriend. She was found in her Long Island home according to police.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said: “On behalf of the New York City Police Department, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Sgt. Stephanie Moses, who was, on so many occasions, the face of the NYPD on the national stage as well as routinely at police ceremonies.”
The suicide is baffling to other NYPD officers who knew Moses because she was overwhelmingly described as a happy person.
