And that was all he needed to spark a bidding war and a subsequent deal with Diddy’s Bad Boy Records. His first album got some notice, he shot up a nightclub in 1999 and was sent to prison. Unbelievably, Def Jam signed him to a HUGE deal while he was incarcerated.
