It’s been nearly three years since fallen NBA star Terrell Owens has played for an NFL team, and since then he’s been on a high-profile downward spiral. With his debt on the rise, Owens has spent the last few months working in TV to help him maintain his lifestyle and pay off his massive bills. However, it looks like Owens may be looking for a new source of income to get him out of the hole — a coveted spot in the NBA.
Earlier this week, Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show” and alleged that T.O. spent the summer at the Clippers training camp, begging the coaching staff to put him on the team.
“Terrell Owens … was at our practice facility a lot this summer,” said Griffin. “begging coaches for a 10-day contract.”
Despite his pleading and his adamant claims about wanting to play for the Clippers this season, the team didn’t offer T.O. a contract.
But, according to Owens, Griffin’s story is completely false. A rep for T.O. sent TMZ a statement, claiming that Griffin was just joking about T.O. begging for a contract.
“Blake and Terrell are friends. Terrell never begged to become a Clipper,” said the rep.
However, just in case any of the other teams in the NBA were wondering, T.O.’s rep made sure to note that, “As everyone knows, [Terrell] can play a serious game of ball.”
I think the NBA hears you loud and clear, T.O., but we just don’t think they care, especially not when you’re getting beat by tiny street ballers.
Well, T.O. may not be making any moves into the NBA, but he’s not the only sports star who’s made the decision to change sports. Check out some other dual sports stars below. –nicholas robinson
