Sandy Hook church evacuated
State troopers storm Newton church.

More than a dozen state troopers armed with rifles stormed a home near a Newton, Conn., church, NBC has reported.

The St. Rose of Lima Church in Newton has been evacuated.  At the time, a noon mass was underway at the Roman Catholic Church, located at 46 Church Hill Road.


Parishioners and news media were told to leave the church property immediately.

Recently, authorities released the names of the 26 victims gunned down at Sandy Hook ElementarySchool in Newtown, Conn.

First-graders were slaughtered in the second-deadliest school shooting in U.S. history. The slain children died of multiple gunshot wounds.
