What began as a way to save his mom some money quickly became a career and passion for Ned Evans III. The master barber and owner of Precise Cuts began cutting his classmates’ hair at 14. A graduate of Jay’s Technical Institute and Beauty School in 2002, Evans quickly realized the need for more than just a haircut among African American men. He invests his time in the overall grooming experience of his elite clientele.
Evans believes too many barbers take shortcuts to a fulfilling grooming experience. Which is why he motto is “Whatever you do, do your best.”
We asked Ned for a few tips he could suggest to men seeking to look their best.
- Avoid squeezing hair bumps, which leads to unsightly dark spots allow a professional to extract
- Keep hair hydrated by placing head under water during each shower
- Ashy skin is not a sign of masculinity, moisturize your face and body
- For the freshest cut, arrive to your barber’s chair with clean, oil-free hair
